I started in radio in 2008 with Great Eastern Radio. Since then it has been a wild ride of ups and downs and ever changing challenges. The River is the best one yet and I feel like I’ve finally found my niche. Like anyone in radio, I wear many hats. From on air host, program director to copywriter, producer and even graphic designer. When it comes down to it, the thing I like best about radio is sharing the music, new or old, with an audience that I can’t see, but I know is out there. I enjoy finding songs that are great, yet underplayed, and giving them a spotlight.

Growing up as a professional musician and songwriter, music will always come first for me, everything else is secondary. When you listen to The River, it should be refreshing with a taste of the familiar and never predictable or stale. A radio station you can leave on for days and doesn’t fatigue your ears. This is real radio for real music fans. Afternoons with Karen Hill

3pm-7pm weekdays

Karen Liot Hill loves music, and she loves the Upper Valley, or the “center of the Universe,” as she likes to call it. She is plugged in to the community in a lot of different ways – city councilor, small restaurant owner, mom, musician, to name a few. And she brings it all to The River. As a piano player and singer herself, Karen particularly appreciates singer-songwriters, with Bob Dylan being a major influence. While she truly loves it all – from indie pop to classic rock, hip hop to folk to reggae, and everything else – Karen does admit to a particular fondness for the music of the ‘90s.
